Netflix does still house a number of PBS documentaries including most recently they picked up “College Behind Bars” by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick. It also holds PBS’s American Experience – Woodstock. Beyond those, PBS documentaries have all but vanished from Netflix.

Ken Burns, for those who don’t know already, is a master documentary maker who has stuck with PBS over the years and produced a huge amount of documentaries over the years. He’s been an influential filmmaker with over 35 producer and directing credits to his name and countless awards including two Oscar nominations.

These four series mentioned are set to leave Netflix in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and multiple other regions on February 22nd, 2020.

When it first aired on PBS in 1990, the first broadcast of this nine-part series was the most-watched program to ever air on PBS. The Civil War has been awards over 40 major television and film awards.

However, as often happens with streaming services and title contracts, several of these docu-series left Netflix in July of 2016. According to Netflix Update, Prohibition, The Civil War, The War, and The West all left Netflix during that time.
