Andrés Iniesta Luján was born on May 11, 1984 in Fuentealbilla, a municipality in the province of Albacete, Castile-La Mancha, Spain. Very young, he joined his native club, Albacete Balompié, but as they say, a golden fish has no hiding place. As a teenager, Iniesta put on an incredible performance in a sevens tournament that caught the eye of scouts across the country.

Iniesta’s parents later decided to send their son Wonder to the prestigious La Masia Youth Academy. He captained Barca’s U15 team to win the Nike Premier Cup in 1999. He made his debut for Barca’s senior team in 2002 but had very little playing time.
