In 1995, Morehead left Koppel Communications and started working as a Management Council Law Clerk for the National Football League in New York. Andrea became a reporter/anchor for the weekday evening newscast with WGMC TV in Worchester, Massachusetts between 1992 and 1993.
In 1996, she joined WXIN-TV in Indianapolis where she served as a reporter, assistant producer, and editor. After completing her contract at WXIN-TV, she went to WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids, Michigan where she worked as a news anchor.

The news anchor broke news in a video that doctors diagnosed her with stage 1 breast cancer in May 2019. She had left the anchor desk to undergo radiation treatment. Andrea underwent 20 weeks of chemotherapy after her diagnosis and ultimately had surgery.
The reporter completed her treatment program and returned to her seat in front of the cameras on November 12, after spending several months battling triple-negative cancer in her breast. After going through some dark times that included bone pain and nausea from chemotherapy, Andrea finally sees the light and is grateful to be alive and healthy.
